The sky allows glimmers of light through ICELAND AMAZING IMAGES of an aurora visible over Stonehenge have been captured by a photographer who travels up to 2000 miles-per-week to hunt them. Images taken from 4th to 11th November show the sky aglow with green, pink and red light as it illuminates the air. Commonly known as the northern lights or southern lights, an aurora is a natural light display in Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions. These images were captured by mechanical technician Asa Diaper (40) from Portsmouth, England. Asa was lucky to capture most of these auroras in Iceland and even got one in Stonehenge, UK. The photographer used her Nikon Z7ii and Nikon Z8 bodies, Samyang 16mm F2 and Nikkor 20mm lenses to capture the natural phenomenon. ?I often travel 1500-2000 miles in a week to be in the right locations under the clearest skies possible when on an aurora trip,? said Asa. ?Aurora shows as a light minty green colour to the eye, you can see it dancing about when it's so vibrant like this, for me I can really pick up the pinks and purples when it fringes the green but not so much if it's alone. ?The purple starburst was a rare night with a strong geomagnetic storm, something that'll happen more in the next year as solar maximum approaches. ?I always feel amazed and blessed when I see aurora, watching mother nature at her finest. ?I love the reflection shots, I like them as they're quite 'arty', and the purple starburst simply because I've never seen aurora like that. I've seen aurora probably 50+ nights now and never seen it fully pink/purple. ?Aurora hunting is very addictive, once you see a really big show it keeps you coming back for more, sometimes clouds ruin a trip but then you'll get that one clear night and it all comes ENDS
