[To insure success.] They are seldom, if ever,perfect, and therefore an excess must be provided to enable the plant whenin a starving condition (due to any one of these causes), when conditionsare again favorable, to gather food much faster than it would under normalconditions and thus make it possible for it to catch up and in the end makea full crop.
