Egyptian statue sculpture head of a sphinx of king Djedefre, 2528-2520 BC, 4th Dynasty, Old Kiungdom. Louvre Museum E12626. from a royal sphinx statue. Descovered at the funerary complex of Djedefre, Abu Rawach Necropolis Memphis region. Quartz . Height: cm; Width: cm; Depth: cm. Sully room 635. Djedefre is well known by the Hellenized form of his name Rhatoises. He was the king who introduced the royal title Sa-Re (meaning “Son of Ra”) and the first to connect his cartouche name with the sun god Ra. Djedefre married his brother Kawab's widow, Hetepheres II, who was sister to both of them, and who perhaps married a third brother of theirs, Khafre, after Djedefre's death.
