The carpet of the room may have been designed byRobert Adam, as the treatment is a counterpart of the one he designedfor the ceiling. Between the Music-Room windows two inlaid sidetables and two large pier glasses with gilded frames have been the tables and the pier glasses date from the time of RobertAdam, and it seems certain that he was responsible for their ground of the table top is of rosewood, and in this the centralscheme of acanthus spirals and other forms was introduced in aveneer of satin-wood and other inlays, dyed a variety of coloursand also carefully engraved, as illustrated in Fig. 148.
