Thegoods are fed in at the top of the machine be-tween the first steam-chest and the first padded cyl-inder, and are ironed on the side next to the iron-ing chest. Then the goods are passed to the nextcovered cylinder and are ironed on the opposite sideof the goods by passing in contact with the other ironchest. The direction taken by the goods is on a curveshaped like the letter S. The goods are then carriedto the large steam-heated drum and slid around it bymeans of revolving carrier rolls and endless machine aifords a large heating surface, and itsubjects the goods to such friction under slight pres-sure that it produces a sof
