Eroded farmland. Boy leaning on a farm building with erosion gulleys on farmland in the background. This is a tenant's farm, in Walker County, Alabama, USA, during a period of drought. The date is February 1937, a time when many US rural communities were still suffering the effects of the Great Depression. This image was obtained by US photographer Arthur Rothstein (1915-1985) while working for a US government photography project that documented everyday American life between 1935 and 1944.
