Lophodolus dinema Regan and Trewavas (1932) was de- scribed as new on the basis of an escal morphology differing from that of L. indicus. These differences, however, are un- doubtedly the result of damage. The esca of the holotype of L. indicus, originally described by Lloyd (1909a: 167) as being ''hard but . . covered with short, shreddy filaments," has lost.
