Scotch Marine Boilers are economical in first cost and are entirely self contained, requiring no expensive foundations or brick settings, and can be readily moved from place to place with very little trouble or expense. They require no heavy fire fronts, setting castings or wall binders. These boilers occupy very small space and are very suitable for use in places where floor space is limited, and on account of the limited head room required, are very suitable for use in cellars and basements. In Scotch Marine Boilers all the lire is in the furnace inside the boiler, and the heat travels the length of this furnace and then back through the tubes, thus traveling twice the entire length of the boiler before going to the stack, and as at all times the fire is entirely surrounded by water all the useful heat is absorbed and converted into steam. In this type of boiler no brick work is required and there is no wasteful radiation of heat through the settings and no expensive brick walls to keep in repair.
