Waxwork figures depicting Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria (R) and his wife Sophie (L) in contemporary costumes and other exhibits at the Museum Sarajevo, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The museum is dedicated to the events of 28 June 1914 when Bosnian Serb Gavrilo Princip assassinated the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg. The assassination is regarded as having triggered the declaration of war of Austria-Hungary against Serbia at the outset of World War One.
