Glass arch in Queen Street station, Glasgow, exposed during station redevelopment 2020
Glasgow Queen Street Station is one of 2 termini in Glasgow (there were 4 but 2 of them closed in the 1960s). It was opened in 1842 and originally calles Dundas Street station. The glass and iron arch was added in the 1870s. The arch was visible until 1969 when the station was re-developed and a new frontage built which obscued it. Another re-development took place from 2017-2021 during which the arch once again was revealed, but the new frontage has hidden it again. You can see it from inside the Street is the third busiest in Scotland and serves the north and east of Scotland and the 2 lower level platforms serve the suburban hinterland of Glasgow.
