Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) Horizontal full body view of a 10 meters individual filter feeding plankton at night. We had some fairly strong lights (more than 1,000 volts in total) overboard, illuminating the water column, to facilitate the accumulation of plankton, in the hope of attracting one of these magnificent giants. At 2am we got lucky, and Mr. Big visited us. I was swimming with it (using scuba diving gear with whale sharks is forbidden) for more than 1 hour. The zenith light and the strong chiaroscuro give the image an intriguing, almost mystical atmosphere. Un ejemplar de 10 metros de largo filtrando plankton. El capitán de nuestro barco había dispuesto un foco muy potente iluminando la columna de agua, que favoreció la acumulación de plankton. A las 2 de la mañana el tiburón decidió aprovecharse del banquete. La única luz disponible era la del propio foco, pero lejos de ser un problema, la iluminación cenital y los fuertes claroscuros otorgan a la imagen una atmósfera misteriosa, casi surreal.
