William, second Earl of Kintore, eldest son, had aremission under the Great Seal for rebellion 27 November1690. He succeeded his father in 1715, joined in theJacobite rising, and fought at the battle of Sheriffmuir in1715, after which, it is said, he never shaved his his participation in the i-ebellion he was deprived of hisoffice of Knight Marischal. He died 5 December married, before 1698, Catherine, eldest daughter ofDavid, fourth Viscount Stormont (she died at Kintore inJanuary 172
