Blurred sight caused by short-sightedness. Scene as it would appear to a short-sighted (myopic) person. The statue in the fore-ground is in focus but anything further away is blurred. Short-sightedness (myopia) causes light to be focused on a point in front of the retina, rather than on the retina itself, and is usually due to the eyeball becoming elongated. This means distant objects appear blurred. Sight can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or surgery. For an image showing how someone with long-sighted vision would view this scene, see C001/4104.
