The 149th Regiment was organized at Indianapolis by Col. Fairbanks, and left on the 3d of March, 1865, for Tennessee,where it had the honor of receiving the surrender of the rebelforces, and military stores of Generals Roddy and Polk. The reg- ?iment was welcomed home by Morton on the 29th of September. The 150th Regiment, under Col. M. B. Taylor, mustered in on the9th of March, 1865, left for the South on the 13th and reported atHarpers Ferry on the 17th. This regiment did guard duty atCharleston, Winchester, Stevenson Station, Gordons Springs, andafter a service characterized by utility, returned on the 9th ofAugust to Indianapolis for discharge. The 151sT Regiment, under Col. J. Healy, arrived at Nashville onthe 9th of March, 1865. On the 14th a movement on Tullahomawas undertaken, and three months later returned to Nashville forgarrison duty to the close of the war. It was mustered out on the22d of September, 1865. The 152d Regiment was organized at Indianapolis, under HISTOKY OF INDIANA. 181 W. W Griswold, and left for Harpers Ferry on the 18th of March,1865. It was attached to the provisional divisions of ShenandoahArmy, and engaged until the 1st of September, when it was dis-charged at Indianapolis. The 153d Kegiment was organized at Indianapolis on the 1st ofMarch, 1865, under Col. O. H. P. Carey. It reported at Louis-ville, and by order of Gen. Palmer, was held on service in Ken-tucky, where it was occupied in the exciting but very dangerouspastime of fighting Southern guerrillas.
