A large steel bridge arches over the New River Gorge and the New River, in the Appalachian Mountains near Fayetteville, WV. The bridge, built in 1977, is the largest steel span bridge in the Western Hemisphere and the third highest in the USA. It spans the New River National River, part of the US park service, and a popular destination for rafters and rock climbers.
