Poole Beach Replenishment 2014. Sand pumping operation along Poole's Sandbanks Seafront.

Poole Beach Replenishment 2014. Sand pumping operation along Poole's Seafront. During the winter storms of 2013/14, Shore Road beach, in particular, suffered a significant loss of sand along the frontage. Approximately 10 years worth of erosion occurred in just a couple of months, requiring the sand to be replenished. The Council ensures the beach is wide enough to protect both residential properties and infrastructure from coastal erosion. The sand was supplied by Poole Harbour Commissioners from the maintenance dredging of the main shipping Channel. With each load the dredger moved to a position off the beach , connected to a pipeline and pumped the sand ashore. The sand was then moved around and levelled by bulldozers.
