Its architecture is ratherheavy, and it produces on the whole an impri-soned feeling. The style is Early English, butthe exact date is not known; it was, however, com-pleted before 1227. The most marked peculiarityis in the western part of the choir, which isentirely shut off from the aisles, and does not seem to have ever communicatedwith them, the wall appearing to be perfectly solid up to the clerestory.
