Running tracks are my secret weapon and favoured shooting venue when on board cruise liners. Not only do they help in the fight against lashings of over-caloried on-board food, but they also invariably offer fine views of the sea and - when moored - cruise Folk struggling their way round the track can also make for an interesting sight. Here we see joggers doing their thing as the ship approaches the giant port and industrial complexes of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The Port of Rotterdam is the largest seaport in Europe, and the world's largest outside Asia Its scale is simply mind boggling, covering 105 square kilometres in area and stretching over a distance of 40 kilometres from the North Sea to the International Cruise Terminal and City Centre; if you arrive by sea, as we did, it takes well over 3 hours to do this.
