He died April 4, 1882. His grandfathersettled in 1744 upon the Grout estate on Vernonstreet. Worcester, which has remained in one branchof the family ever since. The subject of this noticewas the fifth of the same name (Jonathan) in directline of succession from the progenitor in this coun-try, Captain John Grout of Watertown, 1640.
