Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve representatives, Craig Morris, the Deputy Area Commander for Northern California, Northern Inland Region, and Tammy Cameron, an Administrative Service Technician located at the California Military Department in Sacramento, help Maj. D. David Lovett, commander of Co. C, 1-168th Aviation Regiment present Mrs. Katie Ferguson, a family readiness volunteer who helped organize the units holiday meal, with an Above and Beyond Award. Also during the ceremony more than 35 employers were honored by their California Army National Guard employee for the support they provide the Soldier to let them serve their community, state and country. On Dec. 3 they were invited to join their Soldiers and families during their holiday drill weekend located at the Mather Army Aviation Support Facility, home to Co. C, 1-168th Aviation Regiment and Det. 1, Co. F, 2-135th General Support Aviation Battalion. The employers had the rare opportunity to catch an orientation flight in one of the units' UH-60 Black Hawks. They also toured the facility and learned a little bit about what their troop does when they let them off work to train. The award for "Patriotic Employer" was from the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) office.
