Egg Plant seed should be sown very early in hotbed; plants being very tender, must be protected from frost but exposed as far as practicable to light and air to harden them. Egg Plant seed will not germinate freely with- out a strong uniform heat; if they get the least chilled they seldom recover; therefore, repeated sowing is sometimes necessary. 205. Black Beauty Egg Plant. ("Best in Gar- den" Variety.) The earliest and the best of all large- fruited Egg Plants. It is valuable alike to the private planter and the extensive grower for the market. Black Beauty produces fruits fully as large and ready for use ten days to two weeks earlier than the New York Improved Purple. The grand, large fruits are thick, and of attractive form. The skin is a rich lustrous purplish-black—the satin gloss and rich coloring add- ing greatly to its beauty. The intensely brilliant col- oring is uniform over the whole fruit and does not fade or change to a lighter color. Pkt. 10 cts.; oz. 30 cts.; '4 lb. ; lb. $, postpaid. Not postpaid, 2-lb. lots, $ lb.; 5-lb. lots, $ lb.; 10-lb. lots, $ lb. 339. Florida High Bush. Has proved of the greatest value to the Southern truckers and shippers. It is remark- able for its vigorous growth and productiveness; very hardy and will stand more cold weather than the New York Im- proved. The hot sun does not blight the blossoms. It grows from 3 to 4 feet high, erect and sturdy, free from thorns. Fruit is large, oblong in shape and purple; keeps its fresh- ness and condition much longer than anv other variety. Pkt. 10 cts.; oz. 30 cts.; Vi lb. $; lb. $, postpaid. Not postpaid,
