Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. The Karst Plateau by Trieste. Mount Hermada (Grmada in Slovenian) is a low hill on the boundary between Italy and Slovenia. In the course of the WWI, it was an inexpugnable bulwark of the Austro-Hungarian Army, that defended Trieste from its top. A disused boundary signfrom Italy and ex Yugoslavia, today Slovenia. All the area was garrisoned with armed men on both sides. Now anybody can walk with his feet on two different Countries at the same time : the most fascinating aspect of the European Union.
