This species must be closely related to Lauxania (Sapromyza) bilineata Speiser, Wiss. Ergebnisse d. Schwed. Zool. Exp. nach dem Kilimandjaro, Dipt. p. 173. The next two species are structurally very similar as regards shape of head, nature of chaetotaxy, size, etc. The principal difference is in the antennae.
