Nicolas Remene / Le Pictorium - Mali Magic: manuscripts for peace - 11/3/2022 - Mali / Bamako District / Bamako - An employee of the NGO SAVAMA-DCI (Sauvegarde et valorisation des manuscrits pour la defense de la culture islamique), here in a digitisation room at the NGO's headquarters in the Baco-Djicoroni district of Bamako, Mali, 11 March 2022. Today, almost all of the 300,000 or so manuscripts exfiltrated from Timbuktu during the jihadist occupation in 2012-2013 have been digitised by the NGO and almost 40,000 pages of these have also been digitised as part of the project with Google.
