A tourist in the ghost town of Elizabethtown, New Mexico admires an old relic sitting abandoned in a field.

Founded in 1865, Elizabethtown had a population of about seven thousand people during the height of the gold-mining era. By 1870 the town included two hotels, five stores, three dance halls, and seven saloons. Elizabethtown once was the epitome of what was known as the "wild west".
