PACIFIC OCEAN (August 16, 2016) – Chief Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Alayn Yasay, from Aberdeen, Washington, signals an AV-8B Harrier, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 (Reinforced), to launch from amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island is conducting integrated training with Amphibious Squadron Five and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit off the coast of Southern California.
