City of Vyborg (Viipuri in Finnish) during summer 2007. Vyborg is a town in Leningrad Oblast, Russia. It was founded as a medieval fortress in Finland under Swedish rule. As Finland declared independence from Russia in 1917, Vyborg became its second-most significant city after Helsinki. During World War II, city´s population was evacuated and the town was ceded to the Soviet Union.
