Its range, like that of so many other North American Batrachia aud reptiles, is confined to the eastern region. It is found in every part of this, including the Flori- dan and Texan districts. Specimens from Cambridge, Mass., are nearly unicolor, while Flori- dah forms are lightest aud most variegated; the head seems to bo a little broader and more obtuse. These forms graduate into the inter- mediate and most common type. Mr. C. W.
