He was countyauditor of Kanabec county, Minn., for tenconsecutive years, and was engrossing clerkof the House of Kepresentatives of the statein the session of 18!);5. Mr. Molander wasborn in Sweden, February 27, 1855. Hisfather was a large landholder, and a nurn ofprominence and influence. He had ])lannedto educate his oldest son. Swan, for the min-istiy, and the boy had received a consider-able stait in school towards the cherisheddesign, but financial reverses overtook thefather, and as calamities rarely come singly,his wife died. In IStiOhe emigrated to the United States with histwo sons. ^Vhen they reached Minnesota,the oldest son, Swan, was allowed to remainin the state, while the father continued hisjourney and settled in South Dakota. SwanB. Molander has continued to live in Min-nesota. He went to public and privateschools to supplement the education whichhe received in Sweden, and still continueshis studies. He has always taken an activeinterest in political affairs since he was oldenough to cast his ballot, having a naturalajititude and taste for public matters. Inaddition to the positions already mentionedhe has held a number of minor offices, andhas been a member of the Republican con-gressional committ
