Upper Palaeolithic stone and bone tools. These are classed as Mode 4 tools, and include stone blades and a bone spear head (bottom). The Upper Palaeolithic dates from around 40,000 to 10,000 years ago. Tools such as these were made using more advanced techniques than those used formerly, in Modes 1-3.
