In such ways my time was spent. My lot wasabout the same as that of other nurses, so far asI know. I attended strictly to the sick, irrespectiveof rank or personal pleasure. I continued the workuntil June, 1864; then being tired out, and knowingthe war must soon close, I resigned. During the time I was on duty I had many pleas-ant incidents, as well as many very sad ones; andamong the saddest was writing to wife or motherthat the dear one was dead. This I found no smalltask, as the men were of all nationalities, and itrequired much thought to express what I I can simply say that in this, as in other things,I tried to do my best. LucT L.
