This genus consists of two species peculiar to the Galapagos Archi-pelago. Its true place is perhaps a little uncertain, but it seems tocomo nearest to Conirostnim and Dacnls. From Conirostrum,Gcrtliidea differs in having the wings and tail much shorter; butthe form of the nostrils, the scntellation of the tarsi, and the propor-tionate length of the toes are nearly alike in the two genera. 1.
