Treatment of spinal disc herniation. Coloured X-ray of a section through the lumbosacral spine of a 51-year-old female patient whose spine has been pinned to correct a spinal disc herniation (slipped disc) at the level of the L4-L5 vertebrae. Here, a discectomy (removal of the vertebral discs) has been performed and a graft used to induce artificial bone ossification (arthrodesis) to help support the L4-L5 vertebrae.
