Gardening. RODRIGUKZIA ROLLINIA 1543 tufts, while others, like B. devora, have long, strag- gling rhizomes iliffioult to keep within the limits of a block or a basket. Pseudobulbs small, compressed, 1-2- Ivd. and bearing sheathing Ivs. at the base: racemes erect or pendulous: dorsal sepal and petals similar, free, erect; lateral sepals united, concave, but scarcely saccate: labelluni spurred or saccate, with a long claw parallel to the column, and a spreading blade usually exceeding the sepal: column slender. Robert Brown's genus Gomesa (sometimes written Gomeza), found on 6. recurva, is now referred to Rodriguezia. G. recurva is B. vlanifolia. Grow Rortriguezias in very shallow pots filled with tough peat, and vvell drained. Rest them in a tempera- ture of .50°, giving little water. The growing tempera- ture should be from 65-75°. Give plenty of moisture and shade from direct sunshine. The stronger-growing kinds will need thicker potting material in baskets; they do well wired on tree-fern stocks. During season of growth, syringing is necessary. A. Fls. large, white, spotted or rose. B. Raceyne erect 1. fragrans 2. decora BB. Raceme pendtitovs 3. venusta 4. Candida 5. pubescena AA.
