Ujigami Shrine or Ujigami Jinja is thought to be the oldest shrine in Japan and was once closely linked to Byodoin Temple as its guardian shrine.  The main hall is built in the nagare-zukuri architectural style.  Near Ujigami Shrine stands Uji Shrine, the two different shrines used to be considered as one until they were separated during the Meiji Period when the two were known as Rikyukamisha collectively.
