5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (June 3, 2017) Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Randy Culler signals to an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter attached to the "Tridents" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 9 aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58). Philippine Sea, part of the George Bush Carrier Strike Group, is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations designed to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
