Rhizaria protozoan. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a protozoan from the Rhizaria supergroup. Members of this unicellular supergroup vary considerably in form, but for the most part they are amoeboids with filose, reticulose, or microtubule-supported pseudopods. Many produce shells (seen here) or skeletons, and these make up the vast majority of protozoan fossils. Magnification: x2000 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
