He was, however, active and prominent in thclub and fraternal life of the city, and was a charter member of the Narragansett Boat Club. He waa true sportsman, keenly interested in yachting. Hwas also one of the first members of the SquanturAssociation, a member of the Commercial Club, thHome Market Club of Boston, the Hope Club cProvidence, of which latter he was treasurer fcfour years, and a member of the board of governoifrom 1S85 to 1891.
