Polar Bear Mother & Cub together on the Tundra.


Polar bear, Ursus maritimus, which means "sea bear". Mother & cub enjoying the early morning sunshine. The mum has been fasting for 8 months. When Hudson Bay freezes over they will leave the tundra & she will hunt for Harp Seals for 4 months of winter. The cub is 22-23 months old & is still breast feeding. Canada, Manitoba, North America, Churchill, Polar Bear Point, Wapusk National Park.
