In addition, the valveoperates to cut off the power to the motors should themotorman for any reason remove his hand from thecontroller handle with the power on. The supply limit-ing valve for the sander cuts off the flow of main reser-voir air through the emergency valve to the sand boxduring emergency application when the main reservoir. DETAILS OF DOOR AND STEP CONTROL CYLINDER pressure has been reduced thereby to a predeterminedsafe pressure for the operation of the brakes. Thisvalve is omitted if the automatic sanding feature is notdesired, and in this case the sand valve connection inthe emergency valve is plugged. The Safety Control Devices The essential safety control devices are the pilot valveand circuit breaker cylinder operated by the controllerhandle, the rear door unlatching device, the door andstep controller and a double check valve which preventsthe escape of air from the door and step controllerthrough the brake valve in case the doors are opened bythe emergency valve operating automatically or nor-mally. The controller handle attachment is illustrated in anaccompanying drawing, the handle and valve being so Exhaust Port
