A celebration of the City of York's print heritage, City of York, North Yorkshire, UK

In October 2020, 'York Design Week' mounted an exhibition of 'illuminated letters'. Celebrating print heritage in York, 26 cards were fastened to railings in the Museum Gardens. Based on the 'Grenette' font, each card displayed an illuminated Uppercase letter that had been re-imagined by local artists. Building on their work, the present image was produced by combining photographs of each letter with an image of the Eastern facade of York MInster. The Minster represents both York and the historical relationship between illuminated manuscripts and 'the church'.
