Due to it's rock facade, an abandoned school house is one of the least decayed buildings in Cuervo, New Mexico

An old school house is one of the least decayed buildings in Cuervo, New Mexico. Th town is a partial ghost town bisected by US Interstate 40. The town was once a stop along US Route 66 with a population of 128 in 1946. The construction of the interstate went directly through the center of town and removed at least one street from it's center. Today the town has a "living" side on one side of the interstate with a post office and gas station. The "dead" side of Cuervo has this abandoned school house, town hall, beauty salon, several farms, store fronts, box cars and vehicles in various states of decay.
