Members of the 125th Company, Inland Water Transportation, formerly known as the 57th Engineers, in St. Mammes, Seine et Marne, France, are shown engaged in the repair and rebuilding of barges purchased by the United States in France. The barges were used for the transportation of supplies to the frontlines via inland water routes. In the photograph, some of the men can be seen busy marking the bottom of a barge for repairs.
