HE Ailantus glan-diilosa is a decid-uous tree of thefirst rank, grow-ing to a height of sixty feet and up-wards. Its straight, erect. cokunn-Uke trunk,from two to three feet in diameter, its giganticboughs and shoots, clothed with large, pendulousleaves, give it a noble appearance, and seem tojustify the oriental appellation, Tree of Hea-ven. The leaves are from one and a half tosix feet in length, pinnated, Avith an odd one,and having leaflets with coarse, glandular teethnear the base.
