A view of the remote village of Douglas, on Douglas Island, in the Alaska Territory, 1907. The village sits beside the Gastineau Channel. Quite close across that channel in Juneau Alaska. The large building at the center was a school. Probably only a few hundred people lived here. A few years later, a long bridge was built connecting the village to the small island at right.
