Weather conditions are ideal and there is a feel- ing that greater prosperity is at hand. Stores are busy with wedding and din- ner decorations, and for these prices are better. The business incident to the social seasons for the last two years has been a disappointment. The com- ing White House nuptials, it is ex- pected, will create a heavier demand for flowers this winter than has been the case for several previous winters. Thanksgiving business was exception- ally good. All stock sold well, al- though prices were not so high as was to be expected. Valley cleaned up and some of the houses were unable to fill their orders. This was brought about by the entire absence of orchids. It is reported that a single order for two dozen white orchids last week was turned down by both growers and ex- changes. American Beauty roses sold up close- ly, bringing up to $4 per dozen for ordi-
