Moores Patent.—The double seaming machine shownin Figure 69, known as Moores Patent, is more desir-able for general use, as the frequent changing of discs tothe nearest size of the vessel to be double seamed isunnecessary. The operation of double seaming is performed withthis machine in two steps, by engaging two parts of theupper roll. The first step throws the seam over part way, 108 SHEET METAL WORKERS MANUAL as shown in Figure 67 at B, and the second step finishesthe operation of double seaming as shown in the samefigure at C. The work to be double seamed is placed in the machineover the lower roll, and the lever that engages with theupper roll is thrown over to the left, which places the rearpart of the upper double seaming roll in position for thefirst step. A slight depression of the upper roll on thework is then effected by means of
