THE EXPULSION OF THE FRENCHPRINCES. Much has been said about the petty spite ofthe French Republic in exiling the princes whopossess claims to the crown. There ought to beless sympathy in America than there is withsuch talk. We should give the leaders of theFrench Republic credit for knowing the circum-stances of their case better than we do. In thiscountry we should smile at the idea of any dan-ger menacing our free institutions from the pres-ence, in our midst, of a whole gang of kings andprinces. But in France it is different. She issurrounded by countries governed by men whohave a dread of republicanism, wh hate thename of it, and whf would be willing openly orsecretly to aid any man who could put an endto it.
