WATERS OFF THE COAST OF SAIPAN (Nov. 09, 2018) Hull Maintenance Technician 3rd Class Jesse Lyvere uses a grinder to repair a marriage block inside the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) so the ship can conduct a stern-gate marriage. Sailors and Marines from Ashland, assigned to Commander, Amphibious Squadron 11, are providing Department of Defense support to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands’ civil and local officials as part of the FEMA-supported Typhoon Yutu recovery efforts.
