Clayfield Child Welfare Centre, 1948. Mothercraft homes were residental homes which provided accommodation for mothers and babies born premature. Babies were admitted for special care and feeding management. The second Mothercraft home opened at Clayfield in 1943 and also provided training for Mothercraft nurses.
